Assistant Professor
Manisha Joshi is an Assistant Professor at the School of Bio-Engineering and Food Technology. She holds an MSc in Food Technology from IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, and a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from St Bede’s College, Shimla.
Her research interests include edible coatings and films, nanotechnology applications in food preservation, waste valorisation, and antimicrobial delivery systems. Her doctoral work focuses on the development and characterisation of plant-based antimicrobial nanoemulsion edible coatings for extending the shelf life of perishable commodities. She has hands-on expertise with advanced analytical and characterisation techniques such as GC–MS, Texture Profile Analysis, and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), along with statistical tools for experimental design and data interpretation.
Asst Prof Joshi has published multiple research papers in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals indexed in SCIE/Scopus and contributed book chapters in international publications. She is also an innovator with several patents published in the field of nanoemulsion edible coatings, biodegradable nanocomposite films, and functional beverages.
She has professional experience as a Project Consultant at NABARD Consultancy Services (NABCONS), where she coordinated large-scale post-harvest loss assessment studies for the Ministry of Food Processing Industries across Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab.
Asst Prof Joshi has presented her work at various national and international conferences, including the International Conference on Food Processing for the Future (IFPFS-2024), the International Conference on Multidisciplinary Approach for Healthy and Sustainable Foods (2023), and multiple seminars on food security and processing technologies.
She is a recipient of training and certifications from reputed institutions, including the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, NIFTEM, Arizona State University, and EPFL, covering areas such as postharvest loss prevention, emerging technologies in food systems, experimental design, and scientific publishing.
Beyond research and academia, she is committed to innovation-driven sustainable food systems, bridging scientific advancements with real-world applications in postharvest management and food quality enhancement.
