Arora was the first woman Deputy Commissioner of Haryana since the formation of the state. She bagged the All India Rank 2 in the 1983 batch of UPSC exam. Arora has served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Haryana government, and financial commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management and Consolidation Departments. She has also held the charge of general administration, personnel, training, parliamentary affairs, administrative reforms departments and has been secretary in-charge of plan coordination. Arora is the third sister from her family to become the chief Secretary of the state. Her elder sisters, Meenakshi Anand Chaudhary and Urvashi Gulati were appointed as the state’s chief secretaries in 2005 and 2009, respectively.
