The Shoolini Intellectual Property Rights Office (SIPRO) participated in the National IP Yatra Programme, organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) with the support of the Department of MSME, Government of India. The two-day event was held at Hotel Peterhoff, Shimla.
The programme aimed to strengthen the Intellectual Property ecosystem by spreading awareness and encouraging innovation among MSMEs, startups, entrepreneurs, and students. It served as a vital platform to share knowledge and foster a culture of creativity, research, and innovation.
Representing Shoolini University, Himanshu Sharma, Senior Manager and Assistant Professor at SIPRO, and Assistant Professor Richika Mehta, an IP Attorney, made significant contributions during the sessions. They highlighted the University’s strong commitment to building an innovation-driven academic ecosystem and shared insights into its landmark initiative, ‘One Patent, One Student’, envisioned by Shoolini University Founder Chancellor Prof Prem Kumar Khosla.
The PHDCCI acknowledged Shoolini University’s remarkable achievements in patent filings and its ongoing efforts to promote IP education at both university and school levels.
Speaking on the occasion, Himanshu Sharma said, “At Shoolini, we believe that every student is an innovator and every idea deserves protection. Presenting at the National IP Yatra was an opportunity to represent Himachal’s innovative spirit.” Asst Prof Richika Mehta added, “Our mission is to build a culture where innovation is not just taught but lived from classrooms to communities.”
The National IP Yatra was inaugurated by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, RD Nazeem, who also served as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present were HP Kumar, Former Chairman and Managing Director of NSIC and Advisor to PHDCCI; Kanchan Zutshi, Director, PHDCCI, New Delhi; and Anil Kumar Saunkhala, Director, PHDCCI, Shimla.
A major highlight of the programme was the announcement of the Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) in Shimla by PHDCCI, which aims to provide continuous IP guidance, mentoring, and support to innovators, researchers, and enterprises in the region.
