Twenty-Six students picked up by Microtek

Twenty-Six students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and MBA Program, Shoolini University, have been picked up by Microtek, a market leader in manufacturing of UPS, inverters and solar systems.

The company has selected 10 students from Mechanical Engineering, eight from Electronic Engineering, three students from Civil Engineering and six from MBA. A team from Microtek had conducted tests and interviews online and students had participated in the online placement drive from their respective places.

Describing the placements of so many students in one go by a leading company like Microtek, Vice Chancellor Prof P K Khosla said it was a reflection of the cutting-edge engineering programs being offered by the university and the intelligence of students who pass out.

He said Shoolini University provides well-equipped labs and essential practical knowledge to the students to make them ready for the industry. This placement is truly a huge windfall in these pandemic-impacted times, he added.

Microtek chairman, Subodh Gupta, said, “We are indeed grateful to Shoolini University for leading the way and supporting the industry’s endeavours towards building a new India. The Visionary Leadership Community of India (VLCI) program, anchored and driven under your leadership will indeed go a long way in enabling the partner industries like ours to achieve global competitiveness and manufacturing excellence with trained resources from your university.”

Microtek has planned a major expansion drive through new products and new world class manufacturing facilities in Himachal Pradesh. “To support the successful implementation and running of our projects, we need fresh and smart talent from reputed institutions like yours,” Gupta wrote to the university Director General Arvind Nanda.

Shoolini University and Microtek are also planning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for further mutual cooperation.

Shoolini University has had a close and gratifying association with Microtek since 2017 when the VLCI program was launched at Shoolini University with participation of 10 companies located in the Parwanoo and Solan industrial belt. VLCI is a globally recognised process based on VLFM (Visionary Leaders For Manufacturing) program proven to achieve manufacturing excellence. It is being driven in India by JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency) of Japan and the CII.
