UK University strengthens ties with Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences
Prof Poonam Singh, Course Director Biotechnology of Ulster University of Northern Ireland is on a visit to Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, Solan to identify and prioritize areas of collaboration in research and education between the two universities.
The visit is as a follow up of MoU which was signed by Prof PK Khosla, Vice Chancellor, Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences when he visited UK in May this year as a delegate to ‘UK-India Skills and Training Partnership Conference’ organized by the Indian High Commission.
In an interactive session with the students Prof Singh said, “Shoolini students can pursue higher education and research in biotechnology and related disciplines at Ulster University. There is also provision for scholarships”. She further said, “The essence of cooperation between the two educational establishments is to establish academic and scholarly cooperative projects, and to undertake Dual Degree Programmes at undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels with a provision to transfer credits on reciprocal basis leading to the award of additional certificate.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Khosla said, “ MoU between the two universities provides a rare opportunity for our students to visit abroad for undertaking research projects on biotech-related topics. He assured limited financial support from Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciencesto students opting for higher education and research in Ulster University.”
Prof Atul Khosla, Dean, School of Business Management said that Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences has also developed a similar type of exchange programme for the management students with Ulster University.
The University of Ulster is the largest university in Northern Ireland providing education in biomedical disciplines and other related fields.
