Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences hosts third of the ‘Guru series’ of Lectures,as part of the ‘Yogananda Knowledge Initiative’
Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences has taken the lead in organizing lectures under the ‘Guru Series, ‘a part of the Yogananda Knowledge Initiative, wherein luminaries from different sectors of society share their experiences and impart knowledge. The third of these lectures was delivered today at Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences by Major General Ajay Chaturvedi AVSM,VSM (Retired) (Former Chief of Staff Andaman and Nicobar Command and Chief Engineer Northern Command). He addressed the students on the fascinating subject of ‘Ecological Challenges of the Himalayan Region’. A highly decorated officer of the Indian Army, General Chaturvedi, who is a Mechanical Engineer by training, is known for his professionalism and competence, and has hands on experience in Disaster Management, namely in rejuvenating life in Laddakh after the disastrous cloudburst of August 2010. Major General Chaturvedi presented numerous case studies of disasters which have struck the Himalayan ecosystem in the recent past. He stressed on the importance of planned development, in keeping with the requirements of the eco-system. He elaborated that if we have a clear aim and blueprint of our development in keeping with the requirements with the eco-system, a harmonious blend can be ensured; rather than disasters afflicting the Himalayan region, prosperity can be ensured making it a win-win situation. Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences which is working with a single minded focus on getting in the top 200 Global universities by 2022 has strategized areas of importance which can promote to fulfill its vision. Speaking on the occasion Professor P.K.Khosla, Vice Chancellor Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences said that it was an honour to host this ambitious series of lectures and hear the views of experts of caliber of Major General Chaturvedi, who is a genuine soldier-scholar. He added that this lecture by General Chaturvedi would help the students to learn more about the Himalayan region and not merely enhance their understanding of how to preserve its pristine beauty and bountifulness, but arouse their creativity to go about development in a planned manner.
