Governor urges students to stay away from drugs
The Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Acharya Devvrat visited Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences on 17th October, 2015.
Acharya Devvrat addressed a gathering of students and staff of the university and spoke on the issue of drug abuse. He also administered an oath to the students and staff of the university to keep away from drugs.
An online portal of Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences on drug abuse was also launched by him on the occasion. The portal will provide information about the ill effects of various drugs on the human body. The Governor urged all to unite in the fight against drug abuse in order to achieve all round development.
“India has always been the teacher to the world and I would want Himachal to be the teacher to India and that can only be achieved if we all get united and fight against drug menace. It is only then that the state will become Dev Bhoomi in the real sense,” said the Governor.
He advised the students that apart from the curriculum they should also read about the country’s freedom fighters and the sacrifices they had made to get us our freedom. The Governor also praised Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences for adopting a zero tolerance policy towards drug usage and declared the campus as ‘Drug Free’.
The occasion also saw Dr Sumedha of Delhi based NGO ‘Attac’ speaking about issue. She apprised the students on how the consumption and dependence on drugs leads to long lasting consequences because it affected almost all parts of the body.
