Shoolini Science Event 2017 brings together young science enthusiasts


Shoolini University’s School of Bioengineering and Food Technology recently organized the Shoolini (bioengineering colleges in India)Science Event 2017 at the university campus. Over a dozen schools from Shimla and Solan took part in this yearly science event focused towards bringing together young science enthusiasts and encouraging them to take up a career in science. This year’s theme was “Role of Science in Fighting Hunger and Malnutrition in the Country”.

The Science Event began with a welcome note by Dr. Dipankar Sharma and was followed by interaction among the gathering. Dr. Saurabh Kushreshtha also introduced the University’s flagship program Summit Research Program to the participants. The event highlighted importance of science as a career for young students and its role in fighting hunger and malnutrition.

Two major attractions of the event were the declamation and handmade poster presentations. The declamation contest was judged by Pro. Ravinder Raina, Mr. Pratip Majumdar and Dr. Purnima Bali. Winner of the contest winners was Ms. Yashita of Gurukul International School, while the first Runner up was Ms. Divya of Govt. Senior Secondary School Jabli. Cash prizes of Rs.10, 000 and 5,000 were awarded to 1st and 2nd second positions. Ms. Arushi of Durga Public School, Solan came third in the declamation contest.

Bioengineering colleges in India

Winners of the handmade poster presentation judged by Dr. Adesh Saini, Dr. Azhar Khan and Dr Saurabh were Mr. Ankit from Durga Public School, Solan and Ms. Tamanna from Govt. Senior Secondary School, Oachghat, presiding over 1st and 2nd positions, receiving cash prizes of 5,000 and 2,500, respectively. In this category, Ms. Tanisha from Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Solan received the 3rd prize. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Somesh Sharma.
