Shoolini University, recognised for taking up social causes, organised a blood donation camp<\/strong> in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. The initiative encouraged the life-saving practice of blood donation while promoting social responsibility. Students, faculty, and staff thronged the camp in large numbers, contributing to the goal of collecting 100 units of blood. As the camp ended, the university had nearly reached this target.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poonam Nanda<\/a>, Director of Sustainability and Community Engagement, elaborated the importance of such initiatives. “Donating blood is one of the greatest services to humanity. Every unit has the power to save a life, and through this simple act, we come together as a stronger community,\u201d she shared. Poonam Nanda expressed her heartfelt thanks to IGMC for their continued support and praised the students and staff for their passion and generosity in making a real difference.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In parallel, Shoolini University also organised the Pink October awareness drive<\/strong> to raise awareness about breast cancer, a major health concern affecting millions of women worldwide. Poonam Nanda, a breast cancer survivor, took the opportunity to share her personal journey, stressing the importance of early detection and regular screenings. \u201cI am standing here today because of early detection and timely treatment. We must speak openly about breast cancer and encourage our mothers, sisters, and loved ones to take preventive steps,” she said, urging the students to have meaningful conversations about health within their families.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The university actively promoted its #MyMotherMatters<\/strong> initiative during the campaign. Launched last year, this programme encourages students to discuss preventive healthcare with their families, especially their mothers. University representatives have been visiting classrooms to motivate students to prioritise conversations around health and wellness. Director Nanda reinforced the importance of this initiative, stating, \u201cWe want our students to become health advocates in their own homes. It is a small step that can impact the lives of those we love.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students and faculty members enjoyed the fundraising stalls set up on campus<\/a> as part of the Pink October campaign. The proceeds went towards supporting cancer awareness programmes. The university community rallied behind this cause, strengthening the fundraising efforts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director Nanda concluded by calling on everyone to continue spreading awareness about breast cancer and other critical health issues. \u201cWe can save lives through timely health check-ups and open conversations. It\u2019s not just about individual health but ensuring a healthier future for future generations,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
