Shoolini becomes ‘Disabled Friendly’
In the bid to become a truly global university, Shoolini University has been continuously improving its facilities in order to accommodate people with special needs.
One such step taken over the past one year has been the construction of ramps in all the major buildings located in the campus. These ramps go a long way in assisting the movement of persons, especially the students with disabilities in the university.
To address the issue of ‘accessible toilet’ for the differently-abled, the university has worked on this front too. Recently, one such toilet was thrown open to public at the university.
The toilet is centrally located near the Yogananda Knowledge Center. Ms. Sanjana Goel, a recipient of President’s Award 2004 and the present President of the Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy, inaugurated the toilet. She lauded the efforts of the university in making the campus accessible to all.
These ‘accessible toilets’ have been designed to address the problems faced by the people with special needs. Apart from enabling easy movement of wheelchairs, the toilet also provides more space and bars for users to grab and hold.
