Blood Donation Camp Held on Red Cross Day
Solan, HP: A blood donation camp was organised by Shoolini University on 8 May, which is recognised as Red Cross Day or World Thalassemia Day across the globe. A team from IGMC headed by Dr Victor Masih, Senior Resident, Blood Bank talked about the reasons and importance of blood donation.
He also shared information about the appropriate age group and time interval that should be followed for blood donation. Talking about the shortage of blood available in banks, he said that it can be meted out if only 2 percent of the Indian population donates blood. Blood donation gives you happiness, good health, and the joy of saving a life.
Volunteers of YouWeCan and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences from university were also part of the camp. As many as 200 students and faculty joined to donate blood. Refreshments were also provided to the donors.
